Diabetes is a group of diseases affecting how the body uses blood sugar (glucose).
Glucose gives energy to the cells in your muscles and your tissues.
Your brain also loves sugar as its main source of fuel.

However, blood glucose can become too high in people affected by the different types of diabetes.

A balanced diet can assist in stabilising blood glucose levels,
reducing complications through high-fibre, low-GI foods,
timed carbohydrate intake and limited intake of saturated fats.
